Frequently asked questions
- 01All services are provided by a licensed psychologist, and many extended healthcare plans provide some coverage for psychological services. I will provide an electronic receipt for this purpose. As of May 2026, direct billing is currently available for Blue Cross and Sun Life, as well as a number of other providers. Please reach out to see if your provider is one of them. Insurance coverage varies between plans, so it is helpful to review your coverage details in advance to avoid any unexpected costs. A deposit is required at the start of the assessment. Insurance claims will be submitted during the process. As coverage limits are reached, any remaining balance not covered by insurance may be paid in one or two payments at or before the feedback meeting. Psychological services are also an approved medical expense and may be claimed when completing your personal income tax.

- 05In general, most assessments include: • Going through an informed consent document to ensure that you are informed of the assessment process. We will discuss your concerns and specific questions you would like to have answered through the assessment. • A paper or electronic questionnaire for parents/guardians to complete to help gain a better understanding of the child/teen. • Depending on the specific assessment questions, parents/guardians, teachers, and child may be asked to complete online rating scales. • Approximately 1 to 3 one-on-one appointments with your child to complete the appropriate assessments. Each session is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The standardized tests (e.g., WISC-V and WIAT-4) that I use in a psychological assessment depend on the specific assessment questions and are individually administered as clinically indicated. • A review of relevant documentation (e.g., report cards) and an analysis and interpretation of data. • A comprehensive written report detailing results and recommendations. Parents/guardian(s) will be invited to a meeting to review these results and recommendations.
