Helping you understand strengths and how best to support growth and learning

Hello! My name is Whitney Mitchell, and I am a Child Psychologist with a passion for supporting children, youth, and their families. I provide strength-based assessments to help better understand the underlying factors contributing to academic, social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Through this process, I aim to help parents gain a clearer understanding of how their child learns and to provide practical strategies to support skill development and growth.

I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Manitoba (2011). I then went on to complete a Master of Science in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary (2014).

Over the past 10 years, I have gained experience working with children and youth in a variety of roles, including as a respite worker, behavioural aide, and psychologist. I also worked as a psychologist with the Calgary Board of Education, where I further developed my skills in supporting children’s learning and overall well-being.

As a licensed member of the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB), I provide psychoeducational, ADHD, and gifted assessments. At Sprout Child Psychology, I work with families to better understand a child’s learning and overall functioning, and to identify supports that can help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you in better understanding your child’s strengths and needs.
