Mental health assessments help provide diagnostic clarity and guide recommendations for support. These assessments involve gathering information about an individual’s emotional and behavioural functioning to determine whether their symptoms meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis.
Children and teens may experience mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety, depression) that can impact their daily functioning across settings. The assessment process typically includes clinical interviews and standardized questionnaires. In some cases, cognitive and academic testing may also be included, depending on the referral question (e.g., as part of a broader psychoeducational assessment).
